Beth Crowley is back with another hit single full of her signature soulful lyrics and cinematic production in “Not Like This.” The song takes the listener on a heartbreaking journey through the mind and focuses on a love that’s not all Crowley wanted it to be, despite her hopes and dreams.

“I wanted to play with the idea of when you get something you want but not how you wanted it. I put it in the context of a scenario where the person singing has the opportunity to be with the person she has feelings for but not under the circumstances she would have chosen.” – Beth Crowley

Beth is a master when it comes to lyrics. The chorus brings the instant heartbreak with the lines, “When you’re trying to lose yourself, and I may as well be someone else, it would be easy to just give in, I’ve thought of it, but not like this.” When you’ve dreamt of love and you’re with the right person at the wrong time, it’s hard to hold yourself back from the hope that something will change. Deep down, Crowley knows the truth: falling in love only works if it has pure intentions.

Musically, this song takes the upsetting theme and brings an upbeat twist with pop vocals, drum hits, and catchy melodies. The instruments perfectly complement Beth’s smooth voice, creating the ideal heartbreak ballad that can still get you on your feet.

Biography:  Beth Crowley’s first real memory of loving to sing was dancing around the house belting out “Achy Breaky Heart” at four years old, though she now only revives her rendition of that particular song during select nights of late-night karaoke. These days she is focusing on her original music, ranging from whimsical comedy songs sure to bring a smile to your face to haunting, thoughtful piano ballads.

Beth first gained recognition on Youtube in 2011 when she was inspired by comedic group Axis of Awesome and posted a medley of popular songs titled “Greatest Song Ever Written.” The song was quickly picked up by Reddit, Buzzfeed, and Tumblr, and to date, that video has over 1 million views.

When Beth started posting her original music, the positive response from viewers was undeniable. In January of 2013, Beth took a chance and posted a video of herself singing her original tune “Warrior,” which was inspired by Cassandra Clare’s book series The Mortal Instruments. Fans rallied around the song as the unofficial anthem of the books, with Clare herself calling the song “lovely.”

Beth has since released one full-length album, two EPs, and numerous singles. Her book-inspired music includes songs based on the Dark Artifices series, the Divergent series, The Lunar Chronicles, Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars, the Shatter Me series, and many more. She has also written several commissioned custom songs for books and book series.

Currently, Beth is living in Nashville, Tennessee and continues to write and release new music.  She has also started writing her first Young Adult novel.  She wants to thank her listeners for continuing to support her dream of writing meaningful music.
